Fire Safety Management is an important issue to most companies these days. We have already experienced a cultural change with the introduction of the Fire Precautions (Workplace) (Amendment) Regulations. This has created an attitude of corporate and personal responsibility for fire safety rather than the passive attitude that the old prescriptive method used to encourage.

What will be the outcome of the tragic events of September 11th within the fire safety industry? The loss of so many people inside the buildings was terrible enough, but then to watch the loss of so many firefighters as well just added to the shock. Building design will now be questioned in a manner previously unknown and means of escape technology will be required allowing for egress of occupants whilst also allowing fire rescue to take place more safely.
