Building Capacity Calculation

Postby badadmi » April 29th, 2010, 7:22 pm

Hi

I am trying to calculate the occupancy capacity for a restaurant where I work, can anyone give me pointers on how to calculate the capacity .
We have one means of exit. A stairwell provides a separate route from the floor above, but they ultimataley meet at the same exit point. The door width is 800mm, could be expanded to 900mm.

Stairwell is 1200mm width. Have not measured length as yet.

Thanks in advance

I do think you need some professional help, If you are considering expanding the restaurant upstairs with a single escape route to cater for both floors. Occupancy numbers is only one consideration there are many more. Just to throw one spanner in the works..What provision is there for a Disabled Person to have access and egress?
