SE Controls Offers A Turn-key Solution For Affordable Housing At CIH Annual Conference

The annual CIH conference and exhibition aims to provide solutions to professionals involved in housing and communities.

The global credit crunch has resulted in a significant reduction in developments as costs soar and buyers are unable to invest. The private developer sector which usually supplies 75% of new homes has been dramatically affected by the recession influencing Gordon Brown to set a target of three million new homes by 2020(1).

Borris Johnson has also recognised the need for affordable housing and has agreed targets with 21 of 33 boroughs to develop 23,154 homes to assist social housing by 2011(2).
SE Controls has over 25 years experience in delivering specialist smoke ventilation control systems to all sizes and types of buildings. SE Controls systems automatically open specific windows, doors, louvers, roof lights and AOVs to ventilate smoke and heat. Products are CE marked to EN 12101 and have been widely accepted by Local Authority Building Control.

SE Controls have worked with designers, specifiers and contractors to ensure their products and services cover the full spectrum.

Depending on the building envelope SE Controls can design a smoke ventilation strategy to comply with the building regulations or where a prescriptive solution is not viable a fire engineered design solution can be implemented. CFD analysis is used to model various scenarios and the findings presented to building control. Part of SE Controls design service would be to take the design through the approval process applying their specialist knowledge and experience to the project methodology to provide an optimum solution for the client.

SE Controls provide preventative maintenance visits to conform with the British Standards Institution Schedule BS 7346:1-1990, BS 5588:12-2004 and The Buildings Regulations Approved Document B, indicating that where natural or powered, smoke and heat exhaust ventilation systems are concerned it is essential that they are serviced regularly and maintained in good working condition.

A demonstration unit will be in operation at their stand M228 in Hall M representing their new range of smoke ventilation systems. To arrange a meeting or find out more about smoke ventilation systems contact;
